Fiber On a Whim's Mission Statement:
We are going crazy and we want you to come with us!

Fiber on a Whim ...."FOR ALL YOUR SURFACE DESIGN AND EMBELLISHMENT NEEDS! FABRIC, PAINTS, DYES, THREAD, BEADS, BUTTONS.....". We love experimenting with paints, dyes, and other surface design techniques. We also love creating a 3D piece of artwork with embellishments. Our view is that any object not bolted down or already attached to something else can be used to create dimension, whether by stamping, creating a silk screen, embellishment or more. Our main mission is that we hope to inspire you to try these new surface design and embellishing techniques or simply to expound on your current use. Providing excellent customer service while doing this is a high priority. We hope to bring a smile to your day through the website or through use of our products. As everyone knows, we take life way too seriously, this is no dress rehearsal. So have fun and enjoy yourself!

A little about us other than the fact we are going crazy is that we are a mother/daughter duo. The mother, Janelle (Jan) Girod, got into the fiber arts world in 1976 and has slowly but surely brought the daughter, Kristin Rodriguez, along for the ride. Sometimes it was with Kristin kicking and screaming. Jan is truely a fiber artist whether it be with fabric, yarn, thread, or paper. Kristin has now found herself fully in the quilting world.

It will depend. Most missions will last around 6 months. You will receive monthly assignments with one month at the end to finish the quilt. We will then ask for proof of a completed mission. If you complete the mission by the deadline and send proof, you will qualify for a chance to win a prize package.

4) Can a beginner join in?
Yes!! If you are just starting out in quilting this is a great project for you. All quilts are geared towards beginner to intermediate levels with a contemporary flare. This doesn't mean that you can't participate if you are more experienced.

5) Do I pay for all months at the beginning?
No. You will pay a $20 membership fee to join the club. After that you will pay a month by month price for the package. When you register for the first month it will be understood that you are participating in the whole program. We will honor this by making sure there is a package ready for you at the beginning of each mission.

6) What happens if I'm no longer able to participate?
We understand that life can get in the way of quilting. Please let us know by the 20th of the month that you are unable to participate. This will insure that you will not be charged for the next mission. The small fee you pay at beginning is what allows us to provide the materials at a low monthly cost. This fee will not be refundable if you drop the program.

7) If I participate with a friend will we end up with the same quilt?
Probably not. All quilts will have the same fabrics in them based on the colorway you choose. The difference will be that you may get a different variety of fabrics one mission then your friend. The next variation will come in how you choose to put them together. The pattern will give all directions for measurements and how to construct it. You will be able to change around the focal fabrics to your liking though. This will make the quilt unique to you.
